The youngest rider in the race just took the win. No, you’re not dreaming.

Stage 1 of the Volta a Catalunya was supposed to be a warm-up for the GC guns, a chance for the peloton to settle in. Instead, we got a generational flex from Matthew Brennan, the 19-year-old neo-pro from Visma | Lease a Bike, who launched a last-kilometer move like he didn’t know he wasn’t supposed to win yet. 🔥 GC Watch: Calm Before the Climb

  • Roglič, Vingegaard, Evenepoel, and the rest of the GC hitters all stayed safe in the bunch.

  • No meaningful gaps yet—but don’t blink once the roads tilt up.

👀 Who is Matthew Brennan?

  • British phenom, born August 6, 2005

  • Just turned pro this season with Visma | Lease a Bike

  • Won the junior version of Paris–Roubaix in 2023

  • Now? A WorldTour stage winner at 19

You’ll be hearing his name a lot more after today. 📅 Next Up: Stage 2 (March 25)

A lumpy profile built for breakaways or bold GC moves. Expect fireworks if the big names decide to stretch their legs early.
